RCA cables
RCA cables are generally used on the budget end of the market. They have the disadvantage of being able to be pulled apart. They are also inclined to make a fairly loose connection. Tape can overcome the first issue and squeezing the outer metal of the plug overcomes the second. The main cable we sell has a red wire that comes out at each end of the cable. There are 2 possible uses for this. The first is to connect to the positive of the reversing light as most monitors will have a wire (usually green) to trigger it to come on when reverse is selected. This save running an extra wire to the front. The second use it to take 12v from the front of the vehicle to power the camera at the back. This 12v can either be taken off the ignition or a powered switch. This allows the camera to come on at other times than when in reverse. There is no need to connect the red wire if you only want the cable for the video signal.
